Copy Photos From iPhone/iPad To Computer Without iTunes

You don’t need any special software to transfer photos and videos from iPhone to a Windows computer, you don’t even need iTunes and still get the photos, if you follow these instructions.

No need for software, no iTunes, all you need is a cable, an iPhone and a computer.

Note: Apple’s iTunes is used to synchronize content, including photos, videos, and music from iPhone to computer. However, you only need to move photos from iPhone to computer, so only need the iPhone charging cable. You do the same with iPad.

Way 1: Use File Explorer or Windows Explorer.

Step 1. Connect iPhone to computer with a Lightning-to-USB cable. The first time you connect it to a computer, you will see a popup asking for verification of reliability for the computer to access files, including photos and videos. Tap on Trust or Allow to give your computer access to your photos. You may have to unlock your iPhone before you see this popup.

Step 2. Click My Computer (or This PC)

Your iPhone/iPad is like a USB drive, and displayed in the Explorer window as shown below, click on the device name to open the folders stored on the iPhone in the Windows Explorer window.

Open the folders in your iPhone device.

Step 3. Access the iPhone’s photo folder.

And to copy photos from iPhone to computer, go to iPhone folder (your iPhone name) > Internal Storage > DCIM > 102APPLE (depending on the device this name may be different), select the necessary photos and copy them as usual.

Of course, you can do the opposite, copy photos from your computer to iPhone, iPad to store or use as wallpaper …

Way 2: Import photos with Windows Photos

Windows 10 gives you a very useful feature that helps transfer photos from connected devices via USB to the computer extremely quickly. You do the following:

Step 1. Connect your iPhone or iPad device to the computer with a cable via USB.

Step 2. Go to the Windows search bar and type Photos to search Photos application.

Step 3. Click Import at the top right of the Photos window and select From a USB device.

Step 4. Another dialog box appears, the image on the connected iPhone device will be displayed here. Select the image you want to transfer to your computer and then click Import Selected.

At this time the image will be moved immediately to the Download folder on the computer being used.
